Back in Febuary, I wrote about my commercial photo shoot for Baby Dipper LLC.  I had a wonderful time photographing the bowl, and children using it, for her website and packaging.   Now that the bowls are officially on the market, online sales are a go and the inventor Barbara has given birth to her 2nd! set of twins it was time for some new photos to update the product packaging/website.  They are also doing an article on Barbara in the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine so she needed a photograph that could be run with the article.  Since I was there anyway, we also took the time to have some regular family portraits and newborn shots done to celebrate the birth of the boys.

Barbara was as delightful to work with as ever, and her children are so much fun.  I have never seen quieter or more content newborns as her two little ones and her girls are so full of spirit and joy.  This was my first time to photograph twins and it was harder than I had thought, but so worth the wonderful dynamics I was able to capture.  I am so very excited for Barbara and wish her the best of success with her innovative new product.

Summer FUN!  Nothing like a mini vacation to cheer up your summer.  No work, no worries and lots of fun!  I took the week off and just played with Ella.  We went to the pool twice, to the new playground at Palmer park, over to Nana's house and just did stuff together.  I had a blast and so did Ella.  Since I was off duty, I didn't bring my camera on most of our outings, but I did bring it to the Bridgestreet fountains so that I could have fun while Ella was playing in the water.  She loves the fountains and we both had a great time.

WATER!

Entry for July 13, 2008

Last week I got to photograph some Sunday school students of mine.  H was my student last year, and M is my student this year.  It was lots of fun to hang out with them and once they warmed up to the camera, they really hammed things up!  I invited them to come have their pictures done because of their unusual eyes.  H has hazel eyes, but they are yellow and brown instead of the more normal green or blue.  M on the other hand has YELLOW eyes.  Not green, not greeny-yellow, but YELLOW!  I think this is awesome and I love looking at her beautiful unique eyes each Sunday.  I really wanted to capture them on film, and thus the photo shoot.  I really appreciate their mom letting me barrow them.  I love working with older kids, especially ones who do as told and these two were angels.  They would strike their own poses, and then comply quickly and perfectly to my adjustments.  It was a lovely break from the challenge of toddlers.  They even got in on the action and took pictures of me, each other, and of my living room.  It was so much fun we ran over on time and had to rush to get M dressed for her Karate lesson.

Ella was not to be left out; she woke up from her nap during the middle of our photo shoot and spent the rest of the time crying to be allowed to join us in on the set.  Once the girls were mostly done, I let her have her shot.  Once she was able to get on the set, she didn’t wan to take pictures!!!  She warmed up after a couple of shots and smiled for me.  Until daddy got out the popsicles.  Once the girls were gone, and the popsicles eaten, Jon and Ella sat for me to take some more daddy-daughter pictures.  I love getting the two of them together with their fantastic blue eyes, but the thought did occur to me that I have never had a “nice” picture done of me and Ella.  I have a few snapshots, but nothing good.  I will have to try to get some next time my studio is set up.  I did get some great shots of the two of them though.  Ella’s kids and grandkids will think she was raised by a single dad judging by the pictures!
