Entry for November 23, 2008

Another busy November week for us!  This week we had our last fully outdoors session (I hope!).  I went out again to Big Spring Park in Huntsville for the 3rd time this month, this time for a last minute senior session.  It was FREEZING outside with a cold wind.  I was dieing because I couldn’t find a jacket or coat that would zip up over my pregnant belly.  Good thin I wore a warm shirt!  Our Senior was a trooper though, he definitely was not dressed for the weather, and was shivering between shots the whole time.  We got some fabulous shots for him and I had a great time even though I was numb.  M was a pleasant and polite young gentleman and was a pleasure to photograph.

I also had another family session this week, adorable brother and sister with their two moms.  The kids were shy at first but eventually warmed up to me.  I loved using their fireplace as a backdrop!  The family was great, and we got some wonderful pictures of them.

Only one more week of November!  I am excited to slow down a bit for December, but November was a blast and went by so so fast.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Entry for November 16, 2008

As Christmas rapidly approaches, I realized that I needed to stop putting off my own family portraits before it got to late to order cards.  This past week I drug my family out to a beautiful park-like area with the most gorgeous yellow leaved trees.  I asked my Mom to come along to take the pictures because I wasn’t feeling up to running back and forth for the self timer at 7 months pregnant.  The light was failing, and it was difficult, but I think we got some decent shots.  I am happy with the way the cards turned out!

This week I got to revisit the B family who we saw in September.  This time we did some Christmas portraits, and some extended family portraits.  The kids were great this time and I swear that there will be trouble when big brother J becomes a teen.  He has the cutest smile and great dimples, a heart breaker for sure.  The youngest wasn’t so sure she wanted to have her picture taken, but Halloween candy makes GREAT bribes so she ended up cooperating.  I love visiting the B family, they are so nice and welcoming.

This week was also the bitter-sweet end of our little Elliana’s first year.  I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph her 4 times this year to document her as she changed from baby to toddler.  She was a sweetheart and every session and I will miss having her in my studio so often!  For this last session, to celebrate her first birthday and her newly found talent for mobility we decided to go outdoors to a beautiful local park and let her play.  She was a firecracker as always, but I managed to keep up with her and we got some wonderful shots of her enormous personality.  She was everywhere at once, but we did manage to get her to sit still every once and a while and give us a little pose.  I love photographing her and her beautiful Mommy!

Photography by….. Ella?

Ella stole my camera again the other day.  She knows how to hold it, always puts the strap around her neck so it can’t fall, and knows how to focus and take pictures.  I think I have some serious competition in the future!  I was at my desk when the little thief came by and said, “Make a funny face Mommy!”  She snapped away for a few min before I told her that she should go find her camera instead of mine.  She loves to get her hands on my nice camera!  Here are some of her best shots from our “session”.

I have been terribly busy this month due to Christmas and I am LOVIN’ it!  I adore being crazy busy and thrive on the deadlines.  Ella has been feeling neglected I think, but I told her that once December is over, she will have Mommy all to herself until baby brother is born in February.  I will be taking a break for my last month of pregnancy to relax and get the house ready!  I only have time to post one session from last week, but it was a good one!

Little J and his parents were so fun to work with and their kind neighbor let us use her beautiful garden as our backdrop.  J was more interested in his ball and flashlight than he was in me, but we managed to get some wonderful natural pictures of his cute smile and rambunctious personality!  I haven’t shot outdoors in a while and it was great to get outside and use the sun.  It was a perfect afternoon for photos.  Thank you H family for having me!
