Entry for February 2, 2008

Ella's birthday is fast approaching and I have been working on a special project for her. We are making a personal ABC book for her. She is very interested in numbers and letters so I thought this might be something she would enjoy. Yesterday we got 9 letters finished! I am going to make this a 10x10photobook.

We hope to get some more done today if Ella will cooperate.

In business related news, I wanted to share a link to the Baby Dipper bowl website. I had the opportunity to photograph this new baby product for its packaging and website. Barbara, the inventor of the bowl is a fabulous lady, and her product really works to help keep the mess down at feeding time!

Here are some of the shots.

The bowls are going into production soon so you should check out her website for details and order one of her great bowls!

And lastly, a photo tip for you.

When you are taking a picture, try to remember the "rule of thirds"

Basically, when you look at the picture, imagine a tic-tac-toe board over the whole thing. The part of your picture that is the focus of your image should be placed in one of the outside boxes, on on the lines, but never in the center square. usually, if you can get the eyes of your subject on the upper horizontal line, you are heading in the right direction.

Here I have placed the focus of my picture, (with people, it is often the eyes) on the upper right hand corner of the center box. A great place to have the subject for a dynamic photograph. In the second picture, I have centered Ella, to be right in the center square. This results in a less pleasing photograph.

Happy Photographing!
