Entry for August 31, 2008

For the first time on my blog I am going to post a picture that I didn’t take.  I wasn’t able to get a picture of this myself, so I had to rely on more… technical means.

 Ultrasound picture August 25

Introducing Baby Carlson!  Due February 10, 2009.  No sex yet, that will (hopefully) be determined at our Ultrasound on  Sept 23rd.  I am approximately 16 weeks along.  We are very excited about this new addition to our family.

We will be continuing sessions through the Christmas Season with a small break in the New Year for baby stuff.  Don’t forget to book your Christmas sessions soon as Oct and Nov fill up fast!

I would like to announce our special for the next couple of months!

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful little boy.  Little Nolan had his one year portraits done last year and this year he was back for his 2 year pictures.  Nolan was so incredibly well behaved.  He was very excited about having his picture taken and as soon as I was ready to start he jumped in front of the camera and started posing.  He was such a character and we got so much personality from him.  I love it when the kids are so full of life and you can see their unique person shining through.  We also had the chance to get some awesome mommy ‘n me shots.  I loved capturing their love for each other.  It was a wonderful session and I can’t wait to see them again next year!

Entry for August 24, 2008

As I told you all last week I was going to be at the AGAPE baby and family fair this Saturday.  I had a BLAST!  The people there were so nice, and there was a really good turn out.  I shared a booth with my friend Barbara, inventor of the Baby Dipper Bowl.  Neither of us needed all that space, so sharing worked out great.  My parents brought Ella out and she had so much fun with all the activities.  They had 2 bouncy houses, face painting, balloon animals, ring toss, and bunches of other games.  They also had lots of vendors there, from local boutiques to fire safety.  It was a totally successful event.  We had a better response than we had hoped for and we are really looking forward to all the sessions we have lined up.  I had so much fun talking to people and showing them my work.  Here are some pictures of our booth at the event.

This week I had mostly cleared my schedule to finish up things for the fair but I did have one session on Tuesday.  I got to photograph the lovely Kellan, a 10 day old boy with his parents and his older twin brothers.  Kellan was such a sweetie, and the big brothers were very well behaved considering that they are 3 and there are two of them!  We got some wonderful shots of this loving family, and even some great ones of the twins together.  Kellan was a jewel and gave us a mixture of open eyed shots and lovely calm sleeping shots.  He did pee on Mommy 2 or 3 times, but managed to miss me!  Dad was so cooperative and such a gentleman!  Mom looked great for being 10 days pp and was so nice and great to work with.  I just loved spending time with this family!  Here are some of my favorite shots.

Entry for August 18, 2008

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!  We had two sessions at my house this week which means that Ella had TONS of photos takes.  Pictures in her new PJ’s, pictures in her new dress, pictures with Mommy, and pictures with Nana too!  She was such the little model it was so cute.  When we had baby Elliana over for her 9 month pictures Ella watched from her highchair as she ate breakfast.  After each shot Ella would call out, “OK! My turn now!”  It was supper cute and so afterwards I let her get her groove on in front of the camera.  The only difficult part now is choosing which ones to print!  The next day we had two adorable little boys over for some pictures and after they were done Nana came over to have some new pictures of her and Ella done.  Ella LOVES her Nana and she was so happy to get to not only have pictures with her, but also to model her other pair of new PJ’s.  It was so much fun to get to do some great pictures of my baby.  I never seem to have the energy to pull out the studio for just her, but having sessions at my house gives me a great excuse!  Now without further ado, Ella!

Our first session this week was will Elliana, she is our baby grow up baby that you have seen twice before.  This week was session #3 and her 9month photos.  E. was happier this time than ever before, maybe she is getting used to me!  We got some great smiles at the beginning, and even though she missed her morning nap, we managed to get through 3 outfit changes and one background change before she called it quits.  I can’t believe how big she has gotten.  I have has so much fun this year photographing her and I am so sad that November is our last session.

I also got to photograph another return customer this week.  L. had her boy’s pictures done this past January for Valentines Day and her sweet, sweet boys were wonderful.  This time we had some less formal shots done of them in matching PJ’s, I guess this is the week for PJs!  Her boys have the most amazing eyes I have ever seen.  Even though the younger brother J. wasn’t interested in having his picture done, we got a wonderful picture of him smiling at his mommy.  We weren’t able to get any great ones of the two of them together, but wow, M. is such a beautiful young man.  L. you better watch out when he is a teen, you will have girls busting down your doors over those eyes!

Entry for August 5, 2008

This week I had an interesting photo shoot.  I was contacted by Mrs. B to photograph her son for a special tradition.  It seems that for the last 100+ years the B family has had a picture taken of every child born into the family when they turn 11months 29days in the exact same outfit.  I thought that this was the neatest thing!  When they arrived Mrs. B pulled out the cutest old fashioned white “dress” type outfit, the kind of things both girls and boys wore 100 years ago.  She had asked for some nice “classic” but not necessarily period specific props to use in the picture.  We started out with a ride-on horse, and then a wooden rocking chair and finished with Ella’s hobby horse.  We came out with some nice photographs which I processed in B&W so it would fit in with all the other photographs that her family has collected.  I really enjoyed working with the B family!  It was so nice to meet them and get to be a part of such a long-time tradition. CRW_6762hcocolateCRW_6770chocolateCRW_6793chocolate
